My tricks navigating LinkedIn. Having been a power user for a number of years now, wanted to share the tricks I've learned.

LinkedIn Hacks

Post Updates Every Day. Just find an article

I've been approached by people saying that they've loved my updates. Keeps your remembered for little effort. You can use Buffer or even just post all top Pencil posts

Comment on people's updates

At the top right, you will see updates where you can click a button to like or comment. Doing so takes less than 2 seconds. If it's been awhile, it helps both of you out

Export Contacts

Go to Connections --> Gear symbol --> Export LinkedIn Connections. Then you can import these contacts into your email or contact book.

Take notes on talks in LinkedIn and publish them

Publishing stories on LinkedIn gets you noticed and sends a notification to connections, keeping you top of mind. Just take notes within LinkedIn and publish some of them

Your headline should reflect specifically what you want

If you want to connect with fundraising entrepreneurs, say you're an investor. If you're looking for a design job, saying you're a designer.

ASK when job seeking

Referrals remain the best way to get a job. Ask your network on LinkedIn to help you. That's the beauty of LinkedIn! Don't be afraid to ask.

Ask for recommendations ASAP

Nobody just recommends you. You need to ask for them. After you finish a role or do a great job on something, ask for that recommendation. It make a difference
