A poem about a painting by Leonid Afremov

Love by the Lake

The lights glisten off the sidewalk,

Bouncing off the autumn trees.

The clear drops fall from the midnight blue sky,

causing ripples on the calm coral lake.

We walk down the beaten path,

Rain plopping down on our umbrellas,

Our boots soaked,

Wading through the coat of water on the ground.

The air is filled with the sound of our voices.

It's been hours since we first left home,

With no want to return,

Following the curves of the lake,

Discussion never stops

While night enchants us.

Color seems to be everywhere,

Lighting up the night,

Till the early hours of the morning.
