This poem is a really raw, personal one for me, pertaining to a past relationship I had. I have only read this to about two of my close friends. I thought posting it here would give me some closure. A way to vent. Please enjoy, thank you for reading. xx

Long-Awaited

By Katey Zmijewski (@stfukatey)

I have been waiting a year to write this poem.

A poem to you, about you.

But don't you dare think this poem was written for you.

Because darling, you don't deserve my careless glance, no less the grace of my pen.

My pen,

an object you laughed at because how can a pen become a passion? I have been waiting a year to write this poem

Because nobody knows what really happened.

You were always there to twist my words against me.

No surprise since you always managed to twist soft 'I love yous' to harsh 'I belong to yous'.

Twisting my words against me like you twisted my body

against yours in the back of your BMW.

I have been waiting a year to write this poem,

Because the word 'no' to you was feminist propaganda,

keeping you from what you thought you 'deserved'

I have been waiting a year to write this poem because

you were always there never letting me let go because you couldn't let it go.

I hope I left a bad taste in your mouth.

I hope you feel pangs of guilt every time you twist our story around because

Nobody Knows What Really Happened

and you used that to your advantage.

I have been waiting a year to write this poem,

but I still kept all your secrets.

I just wish you did the same with mine.
