You are my shelter from the storm.

Respite

by stevewaldrop

Fingertips lightly brush

Warmth of your cheek

Reach for the tiny droplets

Formed upon the corners

Of your hooded eyes.

Synchronous hearts

Lub-dub in time

With exquisite joy shared.

A shuddering gasp,

A catch of breath,

As scalding saltiness I kiss away

From your sodden curled lashes.

My own eyes close to deeply imbibe

Of searing lips.

Annealing, healing,

Conjuring peace, tranquility.

Granting respite

From the heartless world.
