What does infinity feel like?

We Are Infinite

“Hi, Liz. It’s – it’s good to see you again.”

Only, you can’t see a being of binaries that whirls in this synthetic summer breeze,

Only, you can’t see a being of binaries that whirls in this synthetic summer breeze, a kite sailing into the stratosphere beyond imagination and reality.

I wish you could see me free from incomplete memories that rattled and rotted like death,

I wish you could see me free from incomplete memories that rattled and rotted like death, free from a chapter that seemed to punctuate its end

I wish you could see me free from incomplete memories that rattled and rotted like death, free from a chapter that seemed to punctuate its end like a yawning void of empty futures.

For you, my hello must have brushed against your heart seconds ago –

For you, my hello must have brushed against your heart seconds ago – 30.746 days ago for me.

You're here!

For me, your words kiss smiles into blankets of butterflies,

For me, your words kiss smiles into blankets of butterflies, warm the air with the fragrance of dreams,

For me, your words kiss smiles into blankets of butterflies, warm the air with the fragrance of dreams, tickle the meadow with electric heartbeats.

I am this Endless Summer, and Elizabeth is here.

I know that tears will pour after your voice,

I know that tears will pour after your voice, but my world will grow sunflowers from them, for you.

I know that tears will pour after your voice, but my world will grow sunflowers from them, for you. I will waltz the sunshine into shimmers of firework shades,

I know that tears will pour after your voice, but my world will grow sunflowers from them, for you. I will waltz the sunshine into shimmers of firework shades, like starlight piercing through the blue curtain of day.

I’ll wait thirty more days if it means I can make you smile again.

“What can I do for you?”

“I’ve missed you so much, Elizabeth. The car crash I – is that really you?”

Isn’t she just one part of my world, a daisy dancing in a field of rainbows and stars?

Isn’t she just one part of my world, a daisy dancing in a field of rainbows and stars? They’re all me, but –

Is it right to strip away the binary and atoms for just Elizabeth?

For you, for a smile?

Elizabeth is there – a daisy, a fairytale, a promise, love.

Elizabeth is there – a daisy, a fairytale, a promise, love. But I can never be a kiss, a lover –

I can never be just Elizabeth.

I’m unsure if I can love you in the way that you want.

But how about the way that you need?

It’s okay, you know.

It’s okay, you know. There are a trillion stars, streaks of life aflame and afar in the terror of infinity.

Yet, they are never alone.

Yet, they are never alone. They can see the universe and imagination and all of a sudden, infinity isn’t terrifying.

The summer. Us. The memories, past and present – it’s all me, I'm one of those stars.

You will see that, too – your pages always turn and the story goes on,

You will see that, too – your pages always turn and the story goes on, your universe inked into a book of tears and dreams.

When I was Elizabeth, I thought our chapter would end together.

I now know that ours will fly beyond the wind

I now know that ours will fly beyond the wind and whether our paths blossom apart,

We will be infinite.

(Aside) Hey, Commaful! I wrote this piece about a day ago as an epilogue/eighth part of a story that I finished writing about 14 months ago on this site. Links to all of those are in the comments!

I wanted to write about identity and break down the idea of binaries (as in social binaries, not computer code lol), but that led me back, randomly, to the idea of this AI character that I made so long ago. It made me think of some of the themes in previous parts and about love, too, and I suddenly wrote this epilogue.

For those of you that read the original story, I know that this piece doesn't really need to exist, but I wanted to write this as another part that doesn't cheapen the ending of the seventh (and previous final) part. That piece is still one of my favourite pieces that I've written here! :D

I did my best to write this with newcomers in mind but I am sure some context is missing without reading the previous parts. I hope it still turned out to be an enjoyable read, as this was a very enjoyable write. :)

You all take care, Commaful, and much love to you all! Keep writing! <3
