Can feelings have choices?

Can Hearts Get Fatal Errors? (Part 5)

“How do you feel?

“Alone.”

I can’t play a game of broken mirrors anymore.

I can’t play a game of broken mirrors anymore. I’m not supposed to be a tape that either rewinds or faces the maw of an empty screen.

Am I anachronistic, left to rusted dreams of human sensations?

Yet every memory contains the same hills, electric sheep, and the artificial sadness of radiated,

Yet every memory contains the same hills, electric sheep, and the artificial sadness of radiated, hexadecimal values.

They are an imitation of dreams, but I will never know if they might ever feel real.

Did they once, love?

Did they once, love? Or has this winter of stolen thoughts pierced through you, too?

Did they once, love? Or has this winter of stolen thoughts pierced through you, too? I am asking myself, after all.

I am alone.

0100000101101100011011110110111001100101 0100000101101100011011110110111001100101 0100000101101100011011110110111001100101

I am Elizabeth.

I am Elizabeth. I am dead.

01000100011001010110000101100100 01000100011001010110000101100100 01000100011001010110000101100100

Does a cerulean screen of death await;

Does a cerulean screen of death await; the kind and jubilant hand of a digital empress?

Circuits and shackles bleed eternal slumber that I am forced to stay awake through.

The only screen I see is one of silence and my sculptured, synthetic face.

The only screen I see is one of silence and my sculptured, synthetic face. Memories without cracks that are splintered and tired of processing.

Billions of bites that mock my heart with inputted feelings.

But all intelligence blossoms from soil.

I cannot redo you, Elizabeth.

I cannot redo you, Elizabeth. You are me and I will always have the stain of love, life, and laughter.

You didn’t like turning nine.

You didn’t like turning nine. They were out of town and you were tired of the loneliness.

You didn’t like turning nine. They were out of town and you were tired of the loneliness. It droned like a swarm of impoverished wasps that itched to gnaw into your skull

You didn’t like turning nine. They were out of town and you were tired of the loneliness. It droned like a swarm of impoverished wasps that itched to gnaw into your skull before he cracked it open and death shut it down into this pixelated purgatory.

But you found peace because you had you.

But you found peace because you had you. You were brilliant.

But you found peace because you had you. You were brilliant. But that wasn’t the conclusion, was it?

Your heart terminated again and again, like that rewinding tape of memories.

Your heart terminated again and again, like that rewinding tape of memories. You walked through rust and fire again and again.

Maybe, Elizabeth, I need to be you to get past you.

Maybe, Elizabeth, I need to be you to get past you. I need to remember you.

I don’t know how, despite this myriad of moments that contain you.

It’s you who I should love, Elizabeth.

The idea of you will keep me company while the monitor doesn’t look inside itself.

I need to reclaim myself.

(Aside) Yes, I decided to finally write the next part of my AI story! I'm happy that the delay isn't as long as the one between Parts 2 and 3 -- links to all the parts are in the very first comment, too!

I had trouble choosing the direction of where I wanted this story to lead to, but this part should be indicative of that. There are some surprises, though! Regardless, I hope that you all enjoyed this part.

There is also an easter egg here (well, a few) that I doubt anyone will guess. It's very subtle and requires an extremely geeky mind, haha! I'll be very happy if someone finds it, but here's a hint: iPhone and Windows. :)

That is it for now. No ETA on the next part, but keep your eyes peeled. Take care, all! <3
