To my dear friend, thank you for standing by me.

Hideaway

Follow me to my hideaway,

As I run along the dirt marked path

The trees will sway,

The wind will sing

As we run to my hideaway.

Away from your father,

With bottles rough and jagged,

Away from my mother,

With chains locked in her words,

Away from the school halls,

Where "words will never hurt me."

Away from the city streets,

With prying eyes and sharp whispers,

Let's run to my hideaway.

Where rivers leap and blue jays sing.

Where expectations and roles were left behind.

Where we can be just you and me,

And forget our worries for an hour.

But the sun's going down,

My mother's dogs are bounding near,

And your sister calls for you again.

But you grab my hand,

I plead to stay.

We don't want to leave.

So for now let's sleep,

In the safety of my hideaway.
