Lost within ~By: Sarah~

Before college she was content with the universe while exploring her purpose within the world.

Numerous late night dark hours spent on perfecting assignments, research papers, and advocating awareness for mental health among college students. Soon she began to gradually formulate negative doubts and thoughts that would stray her down a path of destruction.

The path to destruction changes the human perception and mind within. Her dark path gradually led her towards these yellow bars that when she took one bar she felt numb.

Unaware of the powerful effects of the medication she would soon become a slave bound to this yellow pilled called Xanax.

Stressed take a pill, worried take a pill, anxious take a pill, depressed take a pill, the list goes on.

During the summer, she was accepted into a prestigious research program and also worked in a neuroscience lab shadowing a PhD student. Away from parental authority, she felt free to do whatever she wanted during her leisure time.

Stress stalked her throughout the 20 hours of research she was conducting weekly; plus an additional 48 hours of shadowing and working in a neuroscience lab.

The stress caused her to feel overwhelmed, mentally fatigued, and depressed. Once all the emotions and stress started to settle deep within her brain, she coped by swallowing a yellow bar to solve her most complex and simple problems.

Once a day turned into two times a day and eventually evolved into a massive influx mixed with alcohol to heighten the effects of Xanax.

Soon her universe came crashing downward into a stage she defined as the dark abyss. She was lost within the dark abyss of addiction.

However, not cognizant of her drug addicted behavior she viewed no reason to seek help.

This once radiant student who emanated words of kindness, love, and compassion towards others was no longer inside. Her passions included hiking, writing poetry, volunteering, art galleries, and her most venerated passion was teaching kids about mental health awareness.

All those activities provided harmony within her soul. However, the dark abyss eroded all the stones that created her passions.
