Warrior of Warriors: First Trial!

The next day we were required to come to the front of the school instead of the Great Hall. “Come, come, all participants must sign this sheet, and are therefore provided with a number.

We will use this to keep track of you. I’m George Rune, and I’ll be proctoring this Trial.

” No one could hardly believe that this: gray haired, black eyed old man- who was about only four and a half feet tall, was going to test them. “Okay, the order is:

#1 Flute Finn

#2 Majica Scarlet

#3 Andy Houston

#4 Nathan Cutter

#5 Melody Drassen

#6 Meridan Zylar

#7 Curtis Fall

#8 Nick Bartholomew

#9 Lucian Snow

#10 Cade Towers

#11 Kieran Elise

#12 Han Nenson

#13 Archie Ace

#14 Nissa Hunt

#15 Tom Monikasa

#16 Odell Meadows

#17 Vaclav Stoltzfus

#18 Gillian Gothart

#19 Bear Bones

#20 Washi White

#21 Lane Gibbon

#22 Felix Warden

#23 Castro Warden

#24 Jobi Warden

#25 Bee Louis

#26 Dalt Rain

#27 Dollie Show

#28 Gene O’neal

#29 Takisan Chester

#30 Huan Gold

#31 Dest Blade

#32 Rex Redford

#33 Jonathan Kilt

#34 Christopher Kant

#35 Fabian Tetrick

#36 Rosabelle Thomas

#37 Jerome Clements

#38 Tann Bird

#39 Alfred Moon

#40 Donovan Kervera

My mouth dropped. Forty candidates?! And I really wondered why someone was named Bear Bones. I feel sorry for him.

Dollie Show was also kind of a weird name… So was Tann Bird… “Okay, follow me; if you get left behind, you lose, if you die- yes you can die, you also lose.

The point is to get to the destination on time. Fabian had already started to move.

“I’m going to be first!” He exclaimed. Everyone stared at him. He was acting like he knew where the exit was but he was clearly going the wrong way. He managed to get stuck in some quicksand.

“Oh… well. I figure he thought we were going the same way as last year, into the forest. No we’re going that way.” Points to grove of trees cleared out. “And I never started running anyways.

” Finally heads off. Some stare in horror that he was going to let the guy sink in the quicksand. I ran near the front.

I noticed the other candidates near the front were Meridan, Vaclav, Curtis Gene, and Donovan. Cade had fallen pretty much behind.

The running lasted for about more than two bursts, and he got faster everytime we reached the end of a burst. I knew I could keep going, but Cade didn’t look very capable.

“Hey Cade?”

“Yeah?”

“Want me to help?”

She looked like she might actually be considering this for a moment and then looked irritated. “I can hold myself up, on my own two legs, thank you very much.

Just because I’m short doesn’t mean-”

“I wasn’t trying to insult you.” She humphed and took off her sweater.

“Well I’m not falling behind! Let’s go!” She took off like her energy had just spiked. Todo had fallen behind at the end of the run, and everyone was out of breath.

Everyone else had reached a tower.

“You’re staying here for the night. Top floor. Have a good rest.” The proctor took back off into the jungle.
