An attempt at writing a poem but it is more like a vent to my thoughts today--a spur of the moment thing.

Masks

Having tamed it for 15 long years

Having tamed it for 15 long years I know suffocation.

Having tamed it for 15 long years I know suffocation. I have worn it on my ankles my fingers, my tongue.

It heaved in the crevices of my mind

It heaved in the crevices of my mind like an old man’s cough

It heaved in the crevices of my mind like an old man’s cough and its soot congested my liquid lungs.

I wore a mask

I wore a mask and painted a smile on it

I wore a mask and painted a smile on it all to hide a disease hollowing my inside.

I was brave I guess

I was brave I guess no one got to know

I was brave I guess no one got to know I was bending over backwards

I was brave I guess no one got to know I was bending over backwards to breathe

I was brave I guess no one got to know I was bending over backwards to breathe to survive.

Corona,

Corona, I am okay wearing a mask

Corona, I am okay wearing a mask for you.
