A number of years ago, I was given something life-changing to say the least.
I was given mental illnesses that would take my energy and happiness and use them as feasts.
At first, the ripples were small like from a pebble being thrown into a lake.
Eventually, the ripples transformed into dangerous wakes.
It started with knotted tummies and not wanting to get out of bed.
Then, it became a set of twin monsters causing havoc in my head.
But as life-changing and negative these unwanted gifts seem,
I can’t help but think they have helped me, in many ways, gleam.
They have given me compassion, empathy, strength, and creativity.
They have made my smile brighter and mean so much more to me.
