HUSH

by Shruti Giri

For how long

Can you hush The wails of little, Misguided veins That run deep into you? Like thorns that tangle Like our hands intertwined

Disheveled,

Like the wind tousling your hair

Cacophonous,

Like the sound of your heart and the sound of mine, beating, together

Yet, like the colours of the wind,

your ululating venae accentuate, singulate your thriving beauty, hidden under the veils of pretense and control; an insatiable desire to be who you want to be

But

As satirical as it may seem your tangled thorns, your real self, nobble me, cripple me of my senses,

I’d probably know why

Only if you Wouldn't Hush the wails of your little, misguided veins.
