The thundering in my heart calls out to me,
It wishes to be heard,
So it calls louder and louder,
Raindrops splatter on the window like a thousand broken mirror shards,
It is too hard... I weep back,
Fear of rejection of a heart that is already broken to break even more.
But as the sky fades into lilac as eventide seeps in,
So does the acceptance of my true nature.
Like a bird who finally realises he can fly,
His silhouette soars high above, fleeing the evening warmth,
I, too, leave my comfort zone,
For something different,
For something truer,
For something more... Myself.
