I was a sidewalk

C E M E N T

I was an old, broken up sidewalk in a degenerate side of town

I was rough and rugged

People walked all over me I let them

I was a sidewalk, after all

But, he

He was the fresh cement that filled my worn, grass filled cracks

He made me new

I wasn’t on my own

Protected

Protected Not alone

Protected Not alone I was a sidewalk
