I am celebrating someone very special this Valentine's Day. Someone who is often neglected and taken for granted .
Someone who is always passed over for endless amounts of cute fantasy lovers that I would rather to spend it with.
I never mention how special and amazing this person is. Or how much this individual shines when circumstances seem dark.
Instead, this poor soul bears the brunt of my criticism and complaints. Enduring the pain of my verbal slings and arrows to the heart.
Hammering down with phrases like "You're not good enough!" or "You can't do that!" It's a wonder this depressed person ever finds the strength to get up in the morning.
I don't know how this trooper manages to function throughout the day either, yet presses on anyway. But now, things will be different.
Instead of speaking curses, I will speak life into this wonderful person. I want to tell this person: "You really are extraordinary!" "You are more courageous than you can possibly imagine, and you can do anything if you set your mind and heart to it!"
"Don't be afraid to try something new! If you fail, then it's not the end of the world! Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get back into the game! Live life! You got this!"
"You are destined for greatness! God has a special plan for you that has yet to be accomplished!"
More importantly, I want to say: "You matter, I love you, and I'm proud of you!" So now, I'm giving a Valentine to the person who deserves it the most!
That person is me.
Become your own Valentine!
