Seizures of the temporal lobe can cause some victims to have near-death experiences. I'm one of those people, and this is what I've seen.

How to Be Dead

Easier than being alive,

Easier than being alive, time passes as if through

Easier than being alive, time passes as if through water, warm like blood,

like sun on autumn leaves.

And you feel light, like

And you feel light, like a balloon bobbing on

And you feel light, like a balloon bobbing on a summer breeze, like that one

And you feel light, like a balloon bobbing on a summer breeze, like that one time at the fair.

The fair is there. So is your father.

The fair is there. So is your father. He’s happy to see you. He wants

The fair is there. So is your father. He’s happy to see you. He wants to show you the whole place,

The fair is there. So is your father. He’s happy to see you. He wants to show you the whole place, even the black smear where he died.

You can hear him. He’s calling.

You can hear him. He’s calling. But you never see him. Never.

Two different fairs, but

Two different fairs, but every fair is the same fair.

Every house is

Every house is the same house.

Every house is the same house. Every dream is the same dream.

And you wander. That’s it.

And you wander. That’s it. Drift from place to place,

And you wander. That’s it. Drift from place to place, like a lost balloon.

Dying is cold, but death is warm.

Everyone is there; everyone you

Everyone is there; everyone you ever knew. Everyone you lost.

Oh, but you can’t find them.
