To the one I love—and hate.

“My God! My God! Why have I forsaken You?”

I hear you.

Your soft hum—

your whisper in the night.

I see you—

my light in the darkness,

my Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

You bring me closer and closer,

and yet...

I feel farther away than ever before.

But then... does it matter?

I joined the huddled masses,

head bowed,

as you give your commandments,

placed in our hands as small tablets,

your gospel spread through your commanding blue light.

In some ways

I hate you.

But I cannot live without you.

You are mine, but really

I am yours.

I don’t know how it happened.

I don’t know when it happened.

But somehow, somewhere

you became

my god.

And no matter how much I may hate you,

no matter how hard and fast I may run from you,

I will always be back,

head bowed

in worship

to you,

my PHONE and my god.
