The Journey

Car Alarms

by rosepetalqueen

Car alarm Yellow lights Distant voices And I'm still waiting for you

The community radio echoes in this room His voice muffles the pounding in my chest We live in a desert now too

Until we reach the towering statues

Sometimes I don't think we'll ever make it This sand gets too bright to see the end These dunes are lonely and play tricks on your head

I know you're coming But I still worry you'll get lost and taken away

I'm pacing the hallways of this waiting room Shaking until I can get to you Shaking until I can help you stop shaking too

I'm picking at this scar again Someday I know I will lose it I just need to let it go

Does anyone see the future from the end?

I knew where I was headed Back at the house before

Before the fire forced me out And cried like I wasn't ready to burn myself down

I'm leaving this forest now And I'm taking you with me

Whatever it takes, We aren't gonna drown

This was so masterly written. It was smooth as silk. I am not sure if I understood all the seemingly symbolic allusions. I loved the verses that showed be such startling images. Great Poem!!
