The case for FLOW

This story will be about movement and flow Body

think about it in terms of t r a n s i t i o n s which is what happens between Actions

Take a look at these four different ways of transitioning between steps:

Noticed something? You don't really care if the proportions or the clothings makes sense. You mostly notice the flow.

For example, take a look at what happens when we remove frames out of a Gif and change the original flow:

(one of the reasons why editing is such an important part of the creation process)

Some directors will sometimes opt to sacrifice logic before they interrupt the flow of the movie.

You can apply this to your Commaful stories. And have great fun while doing it.

How can flow be understood in a Commaful story?

One way in which great movies and video games operate, is by indicating where the action is going to go before it even gets there.

For example:

For example: If I write my first line here

For example: If I write my first line here and the second here

For example: If I write my first line here and the second here and the third here

For example: If I write my first line here and the second here and the third here and the fourth here

and the fifth HERE

I am able to change the background and give you a little jolt without losing the flow, because I maintained the promise.

the promise

the promise was

the promise was that

the promise was that I would

the promise was that I would keep

the promise was that I would keep writing

the promise was that I would keep writing down.

To summarize:

To summarize: By limiting the amount of variables that change from one scene to the next, you influence the flow of the story

This doesn't mean that your story should be 100% predictable, but getting the right balance on your story may be worth trying.

Can you figure out the variables that affect the flow in a Commaful story?

Have fun and thank you for your time!
