1. The sky had died in your eyes long before clouds could graze it

Eyes

1. The sky had died in your eyes

long before clouds could graze it

long before stars could light them

The sea had stopped at your feet

meeting the land in a ceremony of sin

you laughed

for you had done worse

You are the ground beneath my feet

teach me how to levitate

have pity on my heart and i promise

You will never be alone

may we never cross paths again

2. These days, I began to notice

Your eyes, made of charcoal, scan every crowd and every place

They're dark, malicious, and imperfect, a graveyard of hope and grace

And yet, I seem to have had them outraced

For they never see my silhouette grazed

In a wall, in a shadow or in anything that could get a brow raised.

Nevertheless, I've taken notice

Of the lack of clothes hanging on your balcony

Or the way your piano changed melody

At night, it echoes, I hear every sound and every living memory

Spirals

In the morning, I am still unsure

Of which side of our bed is empty.
