The sad end of a love lost.

I've never hated nor loved you more than this.

by rancelandstrong

Dead eyes stare at me from the grave, how sad. It is your fault, as you took your own life. You would not be there, had you not been bad.

You loved to spend your days with other men. You bothered even if they had a wife. Dead eyes stare at me from the grave, how sad.

For me, personally, it was not sin. Days spent at the sodomites club, with strife. You would not be there, had you not been bad.

You wanted to be with me until the end. To me your love pledged, you would spend your life. Dead eyes stare at me from the grave, how sad.

It were your demons that caused your soul's end. In order to end it, you used a knife. You would not be there, had you not been bad.

As I stare into your casket, so plain, I love you, even in your afterlife. Dead eyes stare at me from the grave, how sad. You would not be there, had you not been bad.

You weave a precious fabric from your use of words the message is so crystal clear the first person of the poem drips with hurt and anger. You create a feeling in the reader of sympathy and revulsion for your third person staring up from the grave. I think you know already that I am a huge fan of yours.

@sydney Thank you! It's my first Villanelle. It's pretty obscure, but a few of my poems are about homosexual love, but everyone can interpret them however they want. This one puts it in a more blatant context.
