"Is that a challenge I smell?" Jamy said confidently, only a few feet away from Garett.
"I'm not so sure that you can smell a challenge," Garett replied in mock seriousness,
"I'm not so sure that you can smell a challenge," Garett replied in mock seriousness, "but I'm sure you can see that, yes, I am definitely challenging you." He ended off with a smile.
Jamy scoffed, "Fine," and walked towards him on the court. "But I promise you're not gonna win." She smiled as if she'd already beaten him.
Garett shrugged off her comments and motioned towards the basketball next to him. "Ladies first." Jamy took his offer and picked up the ball.
He continued, "You know the rules of horse." Jamy simply said, "of course." "Well don't go easy on me, just because you like me."
That made Jamy laugh. She dribbled the ball and said, "Who says I like you?"
Garett pretended he was looking up in remembrance— like how it looks when TV characters look towards thought bubbles.
When he looked back down at her, he questioned, "You?" Jamy wasn't expecting that.
"Um, firstly, are you asking or are you telling?" "Oh, telling," he said. Jamy just stared at him. "Yeah, cause I'm sure it was you."
She finally responded, "Me? Sorry, but I would've remembered that." "You tell me ALL the time," Garett gaped.
"Garett, I've never told you that a day in my life." She thought for a moment. "Is my memory betraying me right now?"
"No, no, no. It's your body." Jamy felt like he was just being ridiculous. "OK, Rett, you're not making any sense."
Garett pulled a mischievous grin. "I'm making complete sense, Jay." He sauntered towards her.
Jamy's breath caught, and she was still as he went to her. "Things like this," he said. "L-like what," Jamy cleared her throat as he stood over her.
"Like how you freeze when I look at you a certain way." Jamy realized what he said was true. He laughed as her silence agreed with him.
"And just," he pushed her hair back, "how you get intimidated by me." Jamy's cheeks were heated.
She turned her head away from his hand and said, "Okay. You can stop messing with me now."
"Messing with you? Jay, I'm not messing with you right now." She glared at him. To her, that was impossible to believe. "Jamy, I just notice these things about you."
She was more open to what he had to say now. "I just pay attention to your details."
"MY details?" She raised an eyebrow. "Heh." Garett chuckled softly.
"With as much as you like me, Jamy,
"With as much as you like me, Jamy, I thought you would've realized I like you too." Now, Jamy really didn't know what to say.
"I, um." "It's okay," he said, smiling nicely, "just pay me a little attention next time."
Jamy laughed and looked at her toes, blushing. She looked back up at Garett

Jamy laughed and looked at her toes, blushing. She looked back up at Garett and he kissed her.
And he kissed her.
