There was once
There was once a beautiful lake
There was once a beautiful lake that danced
There was once a beautiful lake that danced in diamonds
There was once a beautiful lake that danced in diamonds upon the morning sky.
This lake
This lake held the love
This lake held the love of a fair maiden
This lake held the love of a fair maiden whom stumbled upon it
This lake held the love of a fair maiden whom stumbled upon it and died.
Though she did not fall nor drown to her end.
She found an evil snake
She found an evil snake with a venom
She found an evil snake with a venom it could lend.
She tries to catch the snake and take a vile of its venom,
to make a healing tincture for her husband that could heal him.
Though as she grabs the snake,
Though as she grabs the snake, it wiggles fiercely in her hand.
She tightens up her grip
She tightens up her grip and keeps her footing
She tightens up her grip and keeps her footing on the land.
But the snake finds a way to leave her grasp and bite her toe.
She heeds a wailing cry
She heeds a wailing cry that the heavens
She heeds a wailing cry that the heavens only know.
And as she falls, she sighs, leaving all her woes away.
She sinks into the lake
She sinks into the lake where her life
She sinks into the lake where her life and soul
She sinks into the lake where her life and soul may stay.
Until a curious fish
Until a curious fish starts to eat away
Until a curious fish starts to eat away her toes.
Her body
Her body and her soul
Her body and her soul only travels
Her body and her soul only travels where love goes.
