Ending a long term relationship is more drastic than some people may think.
Because, when a relationship ends, a chapter in your life ends and a part of you ends.
If that chapter was at all important to you, the sudden halt breaks a piece of you that may never be mended.
The simplest things can be a reminder of all that you went through and experienced with that individual or because of that individual.
A reminder to everything that made you grow into who you are today.
But those reminders can hurt. They can twist and pull at your heart.
The reminders will make you second guess ever ending things, all though you know it was for the best.
No matter the amount of gains you've achieved, there is always a tug at the innermost being of yourself.
There is always a pain within your heart.
You will forever be a changed person, for better or for worse, and there's no way to fix that.
Because even if there were, it would still end in a similar way.
It would still end with the two of you apart.
Because you two weren't meant to last forever, or so it now seems.
There are only the memories that will be forever.
