"Don't forget to take some snacks, water and wear comfortable shoes."
"Are you in a hurry, Mr. Dog? It's not even 7am yet."
"We have a long way ahead of us. The sooner we start, the better!"
At least she sent a dog, I thought.
"You will be walking with me the whole way?"
"You sounded happy on my head."
"Because I am!"
"Well, well... We will be together for some time then, right? Can I give you a name?"
"Sure! I'd love that!"
"You really are happy, aren't you? Well... At least one of us is. I'll call you Groove."
"Like those songs? I loved it!"
And that was how I met Groove, the very happy dog that liked music.
We stopped by a coffee shop that I always had my coffee at, while listening to people talking about their lives, which always sounded way better than mine.
But Groove didn't let me have my drink in peace, so we got going. We walked for almost an hour without stopping for anything.
"How long? I'm getting tired."
"We can sit down for a while if you want to."
"I'd love that."
We were near a park. There were kids playing, happy families walking by, people exercising... Normal people.
"You can't be like them, you know."
"Yes. Not after meeting her."
"Yes, I know that now."
"Do you regret it?"
"I don't. We had bad days, but we had great days as well..."
"How long did it take?"
"Until you realised who she was."
"Well... When we met, I spent most of our time together worried about what she would think of me... My actions... My appearance. I was really in love and trying to show my best.
When we started dating, I felt there was something..."
"Yes. Different. When we really got together, well.. I..."
"You didn't know what to do?"
"I didn't. She changed her behaviour, her voice, her personality... Way too fast. Not to mention all this talk inside my head from different beings. I thought I was going crazy"
"You were the only one who could keep up."
"Was I? I mean..."
"You really helped her. Believe me. She wouldn't have sent us for you if you were not able to help."
We stayed there, sitting on the park bench for a while. Groove was curious, looking everywhere, like he has never been to a park before. He was a very beautiful Siberian Husky.
She knew me too well.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Even though you talk inside my head, I know you can't read my thoughts and I have to talk to you aloud... Which makes me thank her for sending a dog, so I don't look insane. But-"
"Can I just stop you there for a second? Some of us can read your thoughts."
"It depends on the strength she gives us. As I am supposed to walk you, she had to give me a lot."
"Maybe she had never had the reason to do that before with you. I'm sorry, what was the question?"
"I totally forgot."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"Don't be. It's not your fault."
