Feathers ruffled by the hurt and pain... but the scars life brought is a gift it gave... (AUTHOR'S NOTE AT THE END)

A Step Away From Greed: Part 2 (spoken word poetry)

Just a reminder that this is part 2 of this poem!

Just a reminder that this is part 2 of this poem! I advise that you read part 1 first :) And read it out loud! It's spoken word poetry, after all. And I left a little note at the end for you guys...

And then there are those whose lives are avarice

And then there are those whose lives are avarice Never satisfied with a mere average

And then there are those whose lives are avarice Never satisfied with a mere average Want to fuel their revenge,

And then there are those whose lives are avarice Never satisfied with a mere average Want to fuel their revenge, only justice will suffice

And then there are those whose lives are avarice Never satisfied with a mere average Want to fuel their revenge, only justice will suffice Nothing more to a deal than "what's the asking price?"

And then there are those whose lives are avarice Never satisfied with a mere average Want to fuel their revenge, only justice will suffice Nothing more to a deal than "what's the asking price?" Greed has turned our words to painted truths and lies...

And there's more greed,

And there's more greed, more,

And there's more greed, more, than the ones I've explained

And there's more greed, more, than the ones I've explained There are those who hide fears,

And there's more greed, more, than the ones I've explained There are those who hide fears, and scars still remain

And there's more greed, more, than the ones I've explained There are those who hide fears, and scars still remain But for every drop they've bled another must feel the pain...

And there's more greed, more, than the ones I've explained There are those who hide fears, and scars still remain But for every drop they've bled another must feel the pain... That they've felt.

And so the words they've spoke and wounds they've dealt

And so the words they've spoke and wounds they've dealt Broken souls they've created and hopes they've felled

And so the words they've spoke and wounds they've dealt Broken souls they've created and hopes they've felled Those they've scarred would then do the same

And so the words they've spoke and wounds they've dealt Broken souls they've created and hopes they've felled Those they've scarred would then do the same to someone else

It's a vicious cycle of greed and revenge

It's a vicious cycle of greed and revenge Until someone steps in and brings the chain to an end

It's a vicious cycle of greed and revenge Until someone steps in and brings the chain to an end But there's a chain of kindness that'll always shine through

It's a vicious cycle of greed and revenge Until someone steps in and brings the chain to an end But there's a chain of kindness that'll always shine through Where each selfless act brings another something new

It's a vicious cycle of greed and revenge Until someone steps in and brings the chain to an end But there's a chain of kindness that'll always shine through Where each selfless act brings another something new And the people in this loop are really just me and you

It doesn't only help ourselves,

It doesn't only help ourselves, but helps the world too

And change could touch everyone in their lives

And change could touch everyone in their lives...

And change could touch everyone in their lives Aggressors and bullies and victims alike...

We can all soar on the wings of change

We can all soar on the wings of change Feathers ruffled by the hurt and pain

We can all soar on the wings of change Feathers ruffled by the hurt and pain But the scars life brought is a gift it gave

We can all soar on the wings of change Feathers ruffled by the hurt and pain But the scars life brought is a gift it gave For strength comes only from the woes you've slain

Greed is a pest, we have the pesticide

Greed is a pest, we have the pesticide The effect just needs to be amplified

Greed is a pest, we have the pesticide The effect just needs to be amplified But in every human heart is where greed dwells

Greed is a pest, we have the pesticide The effect just needs to be amplified But in every human heart is where greed dwells Because your actions are your own and your greed is yourself

And the need for something more is a part of mankind's spell...

For every bit of love there's a bit of hate

For every bit of love there's a bit of hate For every inch of pride there're times you'll deflate.

For every bit of love there's a bit of hate For every inch of pride there're times you'll deflate. But I dreamt the world could be a better place...

Because every person could do something great

Because every person could do something great Each step you walk could lead a different way

Because every person could do something great Each step you walk could lead a different way It could lead somewhere better,

A step is all it takes.

They will then seek out the weak and different,
