Mug

by olivianicoleada

And after the door closed and headlights faded from the impenetrable night

I turned to my room finding but one reminder of you

The rest undisturbed

But you were here It was real Like before

It wasn't a dream this time

There was your mug laying there on the counter I can still see you standing next to it

Your fingers curled around it Your lips pressed against the rim

But you left and it remained

The only remnant of you The only sign The only proof

And I tried to capture it As if it were a UFO sighting

I stared at it for a while Turned over the last 3 hours in my mind

Then I got up walked over picking it up only to notice the little bit of coffee left at the bottom

And putting it in the sink I realized there was a little bit of you left in my heart too
