The seagulls soared high above the azure sky. The tides of the pristine ocean slowly swept forward and receded, like a gentle rocking of a crib. Forward. Backward. Forward. Like a trance.
An intoxicating smell of salt lingered and diffused in every direction with the wind. The sea breeze also in a trance of its own, blew softly back and forth, almost singing.
Together with the water, it created a soothing rhythm of sounds, like the hum of a lullaby.
The sun, a bright tangerine, was perfectly seated in its throne in the big blue sky, enjoying the view and the symphony of sounds. The gulls cawed in harmony and flew off in the distance.
I let everything soak in. The sounds. The warmth. The scene. I was in a wonderful daze, as I sat basking in the warm sand.
Just when I thought this scenic beauty couldn’t get lovelier. I saw her.
I saw her swimming in the distance. Kimberly. The waters rippled around her as she took one stroke after another.
It was mesmerizing. She got up in a slow, graceful manner and looked over in my direction. I didn’t look away. I couldn’t move. I wondered what she was doing over there. I didn’t know how to react.
There wasn’t anyone else on the beach. Just me and her. We stared at each other for a good minute, not moving. I gulped and got up. I started to walk toward her but… I couldn’t.
I tried walking forward but my legs wouldn’t budge. I was stuck! My eyes widened in shock. What was going on?!
I gazed over at Kimberly. She smiled and turned slowly facing away from me. Then in an instant, she sank below into the water.
At that moment, the tides stopped. The birds vanished. The gentle breeze hushed.
And I was left alone.
I woke up. Sadness began to envelope me once more, but I had it.
The lingering sensation of melancholy disappeared and turned into a unforgiving rage.
Kimberly. My sweet, precious Kimberly. How could they do this to you?!
She was my wife. My life. My everything. She's all I had, and now she's gone. They took her away from me.
THOSE BASTARDS TOOK HER AWAY FROM ME!! I WON'T LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS...
I WILL AVENGE YOU, MY LOVE. THOSE BASTARDS WILL PAY FOR WHAT THEY DID TO YOU.
To be continued...
