The Dark Lord's Apprentice (Chapter 2: Frogs Can Help When Humans Don't)

Anand

Quidditch.

Quidditch. Anand exceptionally loved Quidditch. The way the broom moved at your one command, the way the wind whooshed past your face, the way the excitement built up in your stomach as the Snitch and the Quaffle and the Bludger missed you by an inch.

The way the broom moved at your one command, the way the wind whooshed past your face, the way the excitement built up in your stomach as the Snitch and the Quaffle and the Bludger missed you by an inch. So it was unusual when, one dull Monday, after practice, Anand saw a girl making eye contact with him,

motioning for Anand to follow her. "Hey, you're Anand, right?" the girl said. He nodded. She continued, "You know Winifred, don't you?"

"Yes. That's the one. She went missing." Anand's heart skipped a beat. "That's horrible. In Hogwarts?" She nodded grimly, and held

out her hand. "Sophronia." "Anand. Pleasure to meet you," he said slowly. They shook.

I don't know who, though."

"Damn, that sucks. We should look for her, help in any way." "Yeah," Sophronia sighed. "She was seen with her frog. I don't know it's name or anything." "Well, shouldn't we start at the kitchens, then?"

"Croak."

"Croak." "Croak."

"Croak." "Croak." "CROAK." "What the-?" The croaking sound echoed over and over again, leaving Sophronia and Anand very confused. They were next to the kitchens, looking around for something, 𝘒𝘯𝘺𝘡𝘩π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨, that they might find that lead to Winifred.

follow the sound, but it seemed to be coming from everywhere.

"Great, we found Eucalyptus the frog. What does that have

"Wait- we shouldn't jump to conclusions," Sophronia said, studying the trapdoor. "But it's obvious! Look, her frog is here, and- and so is her bag."

Sophronia appeared to have just noticed a small brown bag, filled to exploding with books and a sketchpad, which had some amazing drawings on them. Anand took it and pulled the sketchpad out; in bright, peeling green words, there was one name: 𝘞π˜ͺ𝘯π˜ͺ𝘧𝘳𝘦π˜₯.
