I whispered "I never felt safer" terrified of ruining the moment,

begging that my words wouldn't jinx us.

You held me tighter while the waves made us dance with them,

and the moon as full as my heart.

For the longest time my body asked for you, but I kept telling it

'prayers won't work for the unforgivable',
