Something I wrote after I thought about the marks that I carry

Scars

I've got a scar on my waist

I got it when I was dancing in the shower

I was three and cried for an hour

It looks like the moon trying to hide away

And I learned to accept it

I've got a scar on my knee

I got it when I hit a rock on the beach

I was eleven and acted as if nothing was out of my reach

I think it looks neat

I learned to accept it

I've got a scar on my hand

I got it when my kitten scratched me

I was fourteen and it reminded me of the waves in the sea

It reminds me that not all things are planned

I learned to accept it

I've got a scar on me

It gets a little bigger everyday

It hurts in so many ways

It is hidden somewhere so deep you can't see it

And I still can't accept it

I still can't accept it

I still can't accept it

Why did you hurt me like that?

I still can't accept it

But I know eventually

But I know eventually I will
