Icarus By @miyawrites21 #onefact

Hey guys! This is my contribution to the #onefact writing challenge haha! Really cool idea, @kaylynn! This poem is about the observations I made of other people and life in general. I hope you like it!

"People are greedy, It's human nature."

"And they expect life to be easy," Said once a narrator.

She looked at the crowd And took a seat on a stool.

Though everything was loud, She remained cool.

She continued to speak, "We all have a dream."

"Still we eat, sleep, work and repeat, And remain silent when we should scream."

"Dreams are there to become reality. But nobody knows it, 'cause suppression's our specialty."

"Why would one want to become somebody else, When everybody else wants that too?"

"Quit being an ignorant ass who only thinks about wealth. You need to change your point of view."

"Start taking care of your mental health, And about the ones that are surrounding you too."

So she screamed her words at the top of her lungs, Over the music.

But the crowd seemed to be numb, It was like nearly everything was muted.

She was smart, so she thought she always had the upper hand. That's why she never tolerated anyone's play pretend.

But she set her abilities way too high, too close to the sun. When she was sure she could fly, she eventually realized, she'd much rather run.

She couldn't deal with the disrespect Because she was tired of constantly being greeted by the reject.

It happened slowly, her self-respect wearing off. And once again, she welcomed her self-loathing with an exaggerated scoff.

The narrator was frowning, for she felt an uneasy feeling building in her chest, "No wonder everyone is drowning." And then she got up
