You locked me in a cage,
Because you want me to behave.
And then you built a fence,
Telling me I'm not allowed to have friends.
Because inside of me grew a tree,
And the desire of breaking free.
But you stabbed me with your thorns,
By putting locks on all the doors.
And all that everyone saw was roses,
To disguise us, so no one could expose us.
Standing still and seeming pure,
That's all that we are living for.
Despite that, I'm reaching for the stars,
Which explains my several scars.
The cycle is endless
And my heart remains restless.
But I'm still going to fight
Because I know that roses sleep at night.
I may be standing in the dark,
But one day, I'm going to spark.
