"Hey, aren't you happy you reached the top level in the pacer test?" Eli asked.
I grabbed a towel from my bag. "No. I'm not really into being the best."
"Oh really," Eli turned his head to the side. "Then what motivated you to get so good?"
"Running away from people." I answered blatantly.
He widened his eyes. "I'm sorry you have to run away from people."
There he did it again. I smiled.
"Well I don't know what I said but you're smiling now!" Eli smiled as well.
Before I knew it we were already done with the pacer test. My score was 100, Ash had 78, and Eli got 79. Almost no one else got above 80, other than this one girl called Sara. She got 81.
And then class was over. The rest of the day whooshed by. I had to introduce myself countless times, and honestly it was exhausting. By the end of the day I was really tired.
I saw Eli and Ash leave school in front of me, but Eli turned around and saw me.
"Hey, can you come by the cherry blossom tree tonight? There's something I want to show you." He said. But he didn't wait for an answer and hurried away.
I watched Ash and Eli walk away together happily, getting on the bus. I turned the other way and started my walk home. What did he want to show me?
