Those were the days I used to sit next to dad

Bygone days

Those were the days

I used to sit next to dad

Watched his work in the month of may

And learned to wave bamboo hat

Those were the days

I leaned to mom

To hear her fantasy tales

And the words use to slip off my tongue

Those were the days

I stared at the monsoon rain

Helped by brother to cross the swollen drain

Where brother and I enjoyed the cuckoo's song

Those were the days

I went to school

Through the muddy ways

Those were the days as sweet as song

Those were the days I thought sun as a god

While I played with mud

Those were the days

I flew like the bird over bays.
