I should have known....

Smolder By: Mike Mezz

My smile has been molded Into a permanent frown The hope I once had Is starting to leave me now

I should have known Not to trust anyone with my soul My life has been blown Melting like an early spring snow

I've lived a crazy life I thought It was supposed to get easier All I've done is wrestle and fight strife The grass never got any greener

My heart is starting to smoulder The fire within is going out The flame dies as you get older The smoke rising from the Inside-out

I know things are tough all over For that I have no doubt Tears forming from the exposure While the ashes continue to mount

My time is dwindling away My brain and body numb It's the price I have to pay But I did have one true love

Into the sunset I will ride Like the cowboys of old I'll fade into the horizon And I'll be gone
