Late night thaughts of a rambling mind

SOUNDS OF SILENCE

by michaelschulze

I have known love and yet i know what it is to be unloved .

I have seen the light but i love the darkness .

For it is in the darkness that the music of the world is written.

Music that requires the beauty of the light to be played.

And once played it can live on in the darkness from whence it came

Soothing the souls of mortal man such as i .

@michaelschulze - y, we're conditioned to fear the unknown and not to stray into dark places.. with maps that say "here be dragons" at the edge of the world and ideas like "safety in numbers.."

Without darkness there is no light, and vice versa. I agree that we have a bias to treat darkness as something sinister. Yet, without it there is no mystery or wonder when something is revealed.

This was a quietly moving piece of poetry. I loved the hushed allusions to darkness as a time of peace, not fright. Great work!!!
