Today, the sun sneaked a peek
and had time for just a quick, warm embrace
while I bravely marched down the silent, empty hallway.
The wind tried to cheer me up by whistling
while I took a seat beside the three familiar chairs
who, just like me, could use a sign that said they were reserved.
I felt the time trickle slowly
like the droplets of sweat that I wiped off my stiffened neck
as my one hour of solitude came to a halt.
The clouds rushed through the sky
as a parade of people filed back in.
I gave one last gulp and bid goodbye
to the little corner that I had nestled in.
