What do you mean by I'm not what you expected?
How do you think I should be?
You answer. But I say:
Each damn Day,
You give me a talk.
Saying that I'm not what you wanted.
That I'm not even supposed to be here.
That I was a mistake. A scene gone wrong.
When did you say that, Dad?
When I was 13.
When did you start hating me?
Since I was born.
Why do you hate the people who treat me right?
Because women should be like a shadow worth nothing, payed no attention to, unseen, unheard. Always busy, caring for things, and making the men comfortable. NOT how you live. Not seen, not heard.
Dad, I hate to make you see reality.
But, I'm not you.
I'm just me.
From yours truly, Andrea Christine.
