There's no need to hide your flaws: everyone has them.

"It's okay to not be fine" -Hwasa

Don't Lie to Me

In a world filled with light,

there was a place filled with darkness

there was a place filled with darkness just waiting for its chance at world domination.

It started out as small as a village in the beginning.

It started out as small as a village in the beginning. But over time, it expanded.

Into towns.

Into cities.

Into countries.

Into continents.

Until there was little good left in the world.

Sometimes, this darkness could be hidden.

Covered up with lies and "I'm fine"s.

Said with a smile and a touch of sarcasm,

it's all it takes to convince others that you're okay.

it's all it takes to convince others that you're okay. To convince yourself that you're okay.

But other times, it can't be hidden.

It just consumes you, the darkness.

It just consumes you, the darkness. Nothing left.

We pity you then,

but in reality, pity is just fear in disguise.

but in reality, pity is just fear in disguise. Fear that it could happen to us,

but in reality, pity is just fear in disguise. Fear that it could happen to us, because we know it can.

We all know it.

We all know it. We can try to ignore it.

We all know it. We can try to ignore it. But it's there.

Monsters that whisper unspeakable ideas into our heads.

Our hearts heavy with guilt and past mistakes.

Teardrops just waiting to spill out of our eyes.

Hands, ready to cover our ears

Hands, ready to cover our ears and block out what we don't want to hear.

The twisted pathways of our minds

that lead into dark alleys

or dead ends.

What are we doing?

Why do we choose to lie?

Is it because it's harder to tell the truth?

We run in circles,

deceiving and hiding.

Being nice, just to convince ourselves that we aren't hopeless.

That we're not the monsters our minds think we are.

And now we're stuck in a tangled web of our own lies,

wishing we could escape.

We're going too far to protect ourselves from the truth.

We make shields out of our habits and words, hoping they can protect us.

Far too often, they end up sharpening themselves into swords.
