About a boy who meets a girl and how she changed his world.

You Are || Youngjae {Chapter 2}

{{Eun Ae POV}}

I sat on the edge of his sofa, feeling the plush fabric against my bare legs. The warmth of the room was nothing compared to the warmth radiating off his body, as he slumped down next to me.

Although it did nothing to stop my incessant shivering.

It might not make sense, and people might question why I was out on a cold winters night, in nothing but my pyjamas, but there is a perfectly good explanation for it.

{{A couple hours before}}

I set my plate on the table, steam swirled upwards and wafted the succulent smell round me like a whirlwind, making my mouth water. I was just about to sit down to eat when my doorbell rang.

Confusion overcame me, because I wasn't expecting anyone at this hour.

Perhaps it was my boyfriend, Kyo? He liked to turn up unexpectedly sometimes, just to surprise me.

I found it endearing, and he usually came with a little gift; something he said reminded him of me.

He was so sweet and charming and the perfect boyfriend... or so I thought.

The frosty night air entered my apartment as soon as I opened the door and standing before me was a tall male, with curly brown hair and hazel eyes, that shone in the little light that we had.

His cute button nose was dusted with pink and his cheeks matched.

I took a step back as I took in his expression - it frightened me. It was cold, like his face seemed to be carved from ice.

"What's wrong?" I asked, then I placed a hand on his arm; not failing to notice how he flinched when he felt my touch. "And why are we still stood here, it's freezing! Come in.

" I giggled and hauled him inside, then locked the apartment door.

"I was just having dinner, do you want to join me?" I went back into the kitchen and started filling a plate with food for him.

He just stood in the doorway and watched me, not saying a word. His expression didn't change from the scowl he had on.

"Let's break up." He suddenly said, his tone laced with scorn.

"What are you talking about?" I said playing dumb. "I've made curry; it's your favourite right? Just...

just sit down and eat ok?" My voice cracked just a little and it took everything within me not to cry.

I shakily placed the food on the table and sat in front of my own. I raised the spoon and scooped up some rice, before putting it between my trembling lips.

The food that once seemed like it would taste so delicious, now tasted like cardboard; I couldn't even chew properly.

And all the while, Kyo stood in the doorway and looked on as I was slowly breaking down.

Was it something I did? Something I said?

I thought everything was great... I guess I was wrong.

"I said I wanted to break up!" He said again, louder this time.

"Don't say it so loud! I have neighbours you know?" I put on a brave front and reprimanded him.

"I don't care about your neighbours. We're breaking up, and that's all I came to tell you." Without another word, he turned on his heel and made to exit the apartment.

That's it? That's how much these last six years meant to him?

And now he's just going to leave, just like that?

Hell no!

I scraped the chair back, not caring that it fell to the floor and rushed to the door. I flung it open and ran after him; completely forgetting that I was in my pyjamas and my key.

In this moment, none of that mattered, all that mattered was Kyo and his reasons for breaking up.

Finally, I caught up with him, and I had to take a moment to get in some much needed air.

"Why are you doing this?"

"Doing what?" He responded, still facing away from me.

"Don't act stupid! Why do you want to break up?"

"I just do!"

"That's not a good enough reason, Kyo." I crossed my arms over my chest and continued, "six years we've been together. Six years! And this is how you end it?"

"I didn't know you could be so spineless. I guess I never truly knew you at all."

Something seemed to have snapped within him and he turned round, then roughly grabbed my arms.

"I just don't want to be with you anymore! That's it." He spat. "Things have just gotten tedious, and I want something new; someone new."

"Someone that isn't you."

This time when he left, he left me for good.

I collapsed to the ground and sat there for... I don't even know how long.

After my body felt as though it would be frozen forever, I got up, dusted myself off and went back to my apartment.

{{Back to the present}}

"And that's what happened." I related all that had happened and the man looked at me with pity in his eyes.

"I don't want your pity." I said, a little too harshly; regretting it as soon as the words tumbled out of my mouth.

The guy next to me didn't say anything and just stood up. He left the room and I was left dumbfounded.

Do I just have to sit here? Alone?

Worry made a battlefield out of my stomach, and my chest felt heavy.

Was I too mean? I should apologise.

After a minute or two, he came back into the room, a hoodie clasped in his hand.

He held it out to me and said, "I wasn't pitying you. It's just I can relate somewhat."

"Put this on, so you don't catch a cold."

He tossed the jacket to me, and I hesitated a moment, before shrugging it off and pulling the hoodie over my pyjamas. Just then, I realised how revealing my clothes really were.

Red coated my cheeks once more and that seemed to be the case for the guy too.

Coughing, I asked next: "Um... You've helped me so much tonight, but I don't even know your name."

"Ah right." The guy's blush deepened, and he scratched his head.

"I'm Youngjae."
