Set Afire

By madcapace

My body is set afire. I stand like a witch on trial Scortched by flames set by my brothers, my former lovers, those I loved. Those whom I hold dearest triggered a furious rage

running out my heart and into my veins, devouring my being. To think I wanted to uphold dignity and leave my anger concealed, but the burning wrath of their betrayal lie on the tips of my

fingers. I uphold no forgiveness for now I seek my vengence.

Beware because with just one touch, all will burn with me. All will cease to be, all because of me. I uphold no apologies.

This poem was a masterstroke. It felt like a ride on the furies. The words expressed tremendous anger. I felt that white heat as I read the poem. I loved how you turned the anger onto the abusers instead of self-loathing. Brilliant poem. I will be watching for further works.
