Watching the laughter of others
wishing to skim some of their hope.
Because I'm sinking in the ocean
not knowing how to float
I'm tired of swimming
and there's sharks all around.
A hand reaches for me and a voice says
"You have been found"
I didn't know it at the time
but I was lost at sea
what I thought was the harbour
a corpse light, be.
They tell me in a mock-patient tone
that I'm safe here
no harm to me will come
and all my faults, endear.
But give me rain and sleet and snow
give me bitter cold and the sea
Because even on the sand, I'm drowning
and I will forever, be.
