A Sleeping Serial Killer

His subconscious heard the screaming

but it wasn’t enough to wake him...

his eyes merely shifted under their lids.

The second time it happened,

they opened,

and he found himself staring through the pitch-blackness that engulfed the room, thinking of what he thought he had heard.

He listened.

Only this time, the overlapping silence that followed took long enough for his body and eyes to become heavy once more,

and he fell back asleep instead.

His subconscious reassured him that the screams were impractical.

Simply because

He had double

He had double and triple

He had double and triple checked the gags before making his way upstairs.

Those screams he remembered were nothing more than fleeting sound memories from the day

and a smile found its way and overpowered his bloody, somber, unforgiving, face.
