She was the smoke his body so desperately needed,
Yet the smoke that slowly burned and rotted his lungs.
He was the Winter she so desperately yearned for,
Yet the Winter brought darkness and wilting to her garden.
She was the smoke he needed to breathe,
Yet she choked him with every false breath.
He was the Winter she needed for the Spring to come,
Yet he froze over her heart with each ending year.
They wouldn't sleep next to each other, she'd disappear for she was a ghost.
They wouldn't kiss for his snow would freeze her heart.
They must stay apart to live without dying,
So he resided with Time,
And she resided in the grave.
