The stranger was driven out to a secluded farm which acted as the base of operations for Deaver's drug operation. He sat calmly in the front seat of the vehicle.
Behind him sat Deaver, along with one of his primary enforcers. The enforcer kept his eyes on the stranger the entire trip.
They eventually arrived at the farm, and Deaver invited the stranger into the farmhouse. The stranger followed Mike up to the top floor and entered his office.
There Deaver went behind his desk and took a seat. His enforcer stood behind him.
"How would you help take care of my current problems?"
The stranger leaned back in his chair. "Well, I know that William Baker is using all his influence to bring you down.
He's got the Governor in his pocket and with it the state police at his disposal."
Deaver sighed. "He's relentless. I mean, Jesus, we gave him the guy that sold the stuff to his kid. Made sure he died badly too, and that wasn't enough for him."
"What if I told you that I could get rid of him for you?"Replied the stranger.
"That would bring too much heat. This man, he's got powerful friends not just in the state but in Washington."
"I specialize in arranging accidents. No one would even suspect. It won't be cheap, but it can be done."
"This all seems too good to be true. How did you hear about me anyway."
Deaver tensed up
"What did you just say?"
"You heard what I said, Deaver."
Deaver's face went white. He then instructed his bodyguard to leave the room.
The stranger watched as Deaver stood up and faced the window turning his back to him. The enforcer had left the room with the sound of the door closing behind him."
"Jesus, I knew this would come back to bite me. I worked with you guys one time, and you never let me forget---"
Suddenly Deaver reached for his neck as the stranger strangled with a cord. Deaver struggled, but eventually, life left him. His body slumped to the floor.
The stranger put the cable away in his suit. He took out a phone and photographed the dead man.
He then made a phone call.
"Let Mr. Baker know that the job is done. Yes, the information he provided proved useful. The very mention of Greystone had him spooked."
The stranger put his phone away. He hid the body under the desk and then made his way out of the window, disappearing into the night.
