a heartbreak(?) poem

i'm sorry

by loseranna

i'm sorry for the shattered heart

and leaving you with nothing but sharp pieces of the fragile thing scattered across your bedroom floor left for you to bleed all over

i'm sorry for the holes in your walls

and the scratches down your shouldes and back and the tear streaks and mascara stains on your sheets that you're too desolate to wash out

i'm sorry for not letting you hold my hand

and i'm sorry that they became sweaty when you held them anyway and for eating all of your cereal which you should have known would happen eventually

and i am sorry for the jigsaw puzzle of downcast i was when we met

i'm even more sorry for letting you be the one to piece me back together

This was a melodramatic read. Without being maudlin you were able to deliver this bitter-sweet poem/story with a sadness that it seriously deserved. Great job!!
