Stars shining brightly, cool breeze in my face, Sitting on the beach, alone in my own little space,

My Little Green Friend

Stars shining brightly, cool breeze in my face,

Sitting on the beach, alone in my own little space,

The roll of the waves, and smell of the sea,

The sound of the breeze, against the palm trees,

Reflections in the water, of the stars and the moon,

The landscape so graceful, in this lovely lagoon,

As I sit resting, feeling my worries float free,

I felt a little movement, coming from under me,

I jump with a fright, and move to the side,

The sand began to shift, to show me what was inside,

Then my eyes shifted, scanning all around,

Everywhere I looked, was movement in the ground,

I crawled closer, to the nearest little mound,

My breath taken away, from what I have found,

First came the head, so fragile and small,

As it tried to get free, digging out like a mole,

Then came little flippers, scraping away,

In a desperate attempt, to get free without delay,

I moved my hand, slowly under the sand,

Gently lifting the creature, into my own hand,

As I looked closer, to see what I had found,

My heart beat faster, with each and every pound,

The little green fella, had tiny cute feet,

A shell on his back, his nature so sweet,

As I held him carefully, I looked to my side,

Dozens more, had come out and in stride,

They all crawled to the ocean, ever so slow,

Into the waves, and the under the ocean below,

I slowly stood up, and walked up to the shore,

Putting him down, my little friend I adore,

I watched him go in, and learn how to swim,

Our meeting so short, but pleased that I met him,

He swam out of sight, in his own little glory,

Ready to begin, his new life, his own story.
