I don't know

by lbingamen

I don't even know what my morals are I don't know where they come from

I've made a lot of messes so far Because sometimes they come undone

I don't know what my morals are I don't know why they're even there

Because it seems like when I need them They go off and hide somewhere

@bernardtwindwil thank you that really means a lot to me. I've really been trying to grow and find myself along with my morals. I know I will figure it out but I do find myself so lost time and time again. I hope to find what i'm looking for.

I am sorry that you must go through this, but you must if you want to get in touch with what is really you and what you really value. One's values come from what one experiences. You will find that there some things you cannot live with. One of mine was the mistreatment of kids with disabilities, with kids who you knew at the time were confused on their gender identification. The second big one that changed my life was racial segregation. In Judeo-Islamic-Christian ideologies, there are hundreds of "thou shalt nots" I have found my morals go in a more positive direction. One of mine is, "I am strong. I will stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves." You are a deeply thoughtful and sensitive young lady. You will come to a set of values and morals in the next few years of you development that will make you proud. They will make me proud too. Your morals are, at your age, external. The confusion will fade when you start realizing what motivates you to do the right thing. Great and deeply philosophical post!!!!!!

@michaelschulze You're right. It's just sometimes I find myself conflicted with them.. And I just don't how some people grow to have such strong moral codes, or where they come from, or why. I've done a lot of things that have gone against what I thought was morally right. But then I also find myself acting morally when I normally wouldn't.
