Don't look down on anyone

Tech seems to have a sense of superiority

Programmers hate all non-tech people

What do you even do in a startup if you don't code?

Business people think code can be outsourced

Why should I pay you this much again?

If you don't have crazy connections or money

Why should I even talk to you?

But then remember......

Steve Jobs

went to a no-name college, didn't shower, and got called a screw up more than anybody else

Mark Zuckerberg

was not a popular kid and was just a college student. Who cares?

Evan Spiegal

Just looked like all the other Stanford frat boys right?

If you met the greatest founders of our time

You wouldn't have given them the light of day.

Don't look down on anyone.

@lelper Really agree with this. It's also worsened by how busy people in tech are. People automatically wonder: "Am I going to get something out of this and if not, is it worth my time?" Making people much less open and humble

I have conversations about this constantly because I know someone who is trying to be "part of the club" while also maintaining personal authenticity. Sometimes people in tech think they're superior, but they need to meet people who have no idea who they are in order to be humbled.

And just being genuine.

Tim Ferris has a great talk about this from SXSW about how he made the best friends of his life at SXSW by just hanging out in the lobby.
